Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers fulfill a myriad of functions at Christian Women's Job Corps of Jasper as they provide leadership, spiritual support, instruction, direction, administrative help and training.

  • Prayer Support - Volunteers assist the CWJC ministry by continual prayer.  The prayer support team is made aware of any special prayer needs.  Pray daily for our participants.

  • Journey Partner - Each participant is matched with a trained Journey Partner (mentor) who helps her to set goals and counsels and guides her through any transition difficulties. These women often serve as role models because they emulate the faith, values, actions and self-motivation stressed in the CWJC program. Journey Partners enjoy working one-on-one with participants. (Females only—commitment of one hour/week with participant for 6 months; training provided)

  • Teacher - Women instructors teach participants in specific fields, and assist participants in obtaining life skills and job-readiness skills.

  • Food Coordinator - Snacks are provided to our participants during each class session. A coordinator would schedule individuals or churches willing to provide these.

  • Financial Supporters - CWJC of Jasper is supported by local churches, individuals, businesses and grants. Your tax deductible contributions will allow CWJC of Jasper to continue to serve women in need in our community. Please consider a one-time gift or a becoming a monthly contributor.  Donations may be sent to CWJC Jasper, PO Box 73,  Jasper, TX   75951

  • GED Tutors - The volunteers who serve as GED tutors commit to assisting the participants obtain their goal of passing the GED exam.  The time commitment is about 2 hours per week when classes are in session.  The students work at their own pace using established curriculum.

Journey Partner

There are various volunteer positions needed within the program (as listed above), and one of the most important is the Journey Partner (mentor). A Journey Partner is a trusted counselor, guide, cheerleader and coach. Mentoring is a transferring of wisdom based on one’s life experience and happens in a one-on-one personal relationship through time.

Each Christian Women's Job Corps participant is assigned a Journey Partner who commits to a six-month relationship with the participant.  It is so important for each participant to have someone she can call on for encouragement and support.  This relationship helps the participant keep the commitments she made while in the program and gives her the support she needs to make real and lasting changes in her life.

Key Responsibilities of a Journey Partner:

  • Consistently prays for assigned participant
  • Contacts participant at least once a week
  • Attends Bible study with participant each week
  • Set both long term and short term goals with participant
  • Encourages accountability and follow through behavior by monitoring participant's long term and short term goals
  • Assists participant in finding information needed to reach goals
  • Promotes participant's self-esteem

All Journey Partners must attend Mentor/Volunteer Training before being paired with a student.  By attending Mentor/Volunteer Training, the mentor (Journey Partner) learns more about Christian Women's Job Corps as well as the specifics involved in a mentoring relationship.

If you are a female experiencing a mature spiritual walk with the Lord, and possess the desire to help women in need, WE NEED YOU!
